The Inter-School Athletics Championships 2000/2001 (Division One) was held in early March in Wan Chai Sports Ground. After three days of competition, we came up with a surprising result.

Day One

The competition started with a field event, B-grade shot put. Yiu Ching Pong got the first standard point for us. Chan Kwun Wang and Ng Ho Lung tried very hard in C-grade Discus and finished fifth and sixth, bringing nine points to our team. C-grade Captain Cheung Hang Yiu obtained another standard point in long jump. On the track, to our expectation, Tse Chun Ming booked a place in the semi-final of A-grade 400m Hurdles. After that, there came the event of C-grade 200m. Our two representatives, Fung Ching Cheung and Leung Chun Ho, entered the semi-finals with ease as both of them captured the first place in the heats. Good news was heard again. B-grader Lui Koon Fong and Mak Keng Hou were qualified for the semi-finals of 200m. A-grade 200m was a tough competition but Lok Sau Fung did not make us disappointed. He ranked fifth in the heat and secured a place in the semi-finals. Our performance in 400m was great. C-graders Ho Kin Pong and Cheung Hang Yiu entered the semi-finals without much difficulty. They acquired the first and the third in the heats respectively. As for B-grade, Hui Koon Ho and Benjamin Wu were also ranked the first and the third in the heats. A-grader Tse Chun Ming showed his talent in athleticism and gained a place in semi-finals of 400m. After lunch, we won our first medal. In B-grade Triple Jump, Yeung Wing Chi made a remarkable jump of 12.17m and secured him a silver medal. Mak Keng Hou, also gained a standard point in the same event. In B-grade Javelin, Ha Chun Tung was able to reach the standard. Back to track events, both C-grader Ng Ho Lun and B-grader Chan Siu Chung were ranked first in the heats of 100m Hurdles. For the exciting event of 100m sprint, Wong King Hoi and Leung Chun Ho of C-grade, Chan Siu Chung and Cheung Wai Lap of B-grade, and Lai Ming Fai of A-grade performed very well and their names were found in the name lists of semi-finals. The final event of Day One was 4x400 relays. Our performance was excellent. A-grade and C-grade teams were ranked first in the heats while B-grade teams was ranked second. All of them were able to get into the finals in Day Three. We finished Day One with 45 points and were placed fifth in boys overall.
